And so...
"However, the fact that you are graduating from Harvard suggests that you are not very well-acquainted with failure. You might be driven by a fear of failure quite as much as a desire for success. Indeed, your conception of failure might not be too far from the average person’s idea of success, so high have you already flown academically.
Ultimately, we all have to decide for ourselves what constitutes failure, but the world is quite eager to give you a set of criteria if you let it. So I think it fair to say that by any conventional measure, a mere seven years after my graduation day, I had failed on an epic scale. An exceptionally short-lived marriage had imploded, and I was jobless, a lone parent, and as poor as it is possible to be in modern Britain, without being homeless. The fears my parents had had for me, and that I had had for myself, had both come to pass, and by every usual standard, I was the biggest failure I knew.
Now, I am not going to stand here and tell you that failure is fun. That period of my life was a dark one, and I had no idea that there was going to be what the press has since represented as a kind of fairy tale resolution. I had no idea how far the tunnel extended, and for a long time, any light at the end of it was a hope rather than a reality.
So why do I talk about the benefits of failure? Simply because failure meant a stripping away of the inessential. I stopped pretending to myself that I was anything other than what I was, and began to direct all my energy into finishing the only work that mattered to me. Had I really succeeded at anything else, I might never have found the determination to succeed in the one arena I believed I truly belonged. I was set free, because my greatest fear had already been realised, and I was still alive, and I still had a daughter whom I adored, and I had an old typewriter and a big idea. And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life."

EVERYBODY'S GOING TO DIE!
...in other news, I believe this deserves some attention, because I am totally going to get one and turn it into a floating pirate city-state, where piracy will be the law! (ph34r my ability to make a contradiction work!)... which is much better than what those guys are probably going to do with them, my guess it will all end up like this.

Support the War Effort!
The teenagers of Mexico have declared war on the Emo Kids. Apparently every sub-genre of kid who is not emo in Mexico has banded together to go on Emo-Bashing raid-like hunting parties. This has the making of an amazing sociological moment where once again the wheels of change force a sub-genre to either "step up" or die... maybe this is something we can blame on video games, like WoW is somehow inspiring these teenagers to band together in "parties" on organized "quests" with very specific goals... wow, that sounds like me trying to go to Sheetz. Anyways, instead of hunting them down for loot, I always preferred this...
Just to keep you in "the know"...

The Nerd Handbook for Non-Nerds
a choice quote... "Your nerd spent a lot of his younger life being an outcast because of his strange affinity with the computer. This created a basic bitterness in his psyche that is the foundation for his humor."

Ten Simple Rules
- Find a place you trust and then try trusting it for a while.
- General duties of a student: pull everything out of your teacher, pull everything out of your fellow students.
- General duties of a teacher: pull everything out of your students.
- Consider everything an experiment.
- Be self-disciplined. This means finding someone wise or smart and choosing to follow them. To be disciplined is to follow in a good way. To be self-disciplined is to follow in a better way.
- Nothing is a mistake. There is no win and no fail. There is only make.
- The only rule is work. If you work it will lead to something. It’s the people who do all of the work all the time who eventually catch on to things.
- Don’t try to create and analyse at the same time. They’re different processes.
- Be happy whenever you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. It’s lighter than you think.
- “We’re breaking all of the rules. Even our own rules. And how do we do that? By leaving plenty of room for X quantities.” - John Cage.
Helpful hints: Always be around. Come or go to everything always. Go to classes. Read anything you can get your hands on. Look at movies carefully often. Save everything, it might come in handy later.

MEDIA BLITZ ATTACK!!!
...secondly, I really dug this article by Amanda Marcotte, in the recent weeks, where it seems like every woman out there has been going after any guy who would dare pick up a video game, it's nice to read an article written by a woman and with a great depth and clarity about the subject.

The Internet is Serious Business
In other news... All of us here at Bad Luck (and affiliates) are working very hard on bringing much enjoyment to all of you out there. Crazy Uncle Jim from Jersey came to visit this past weekend, and although he didn't sleep much, we came up with quite a few great boner-inducing-vomitorium-stylized-blood-and-viscera ideas. More on these things later. Also, our resident Grand Vizier of All Things Movie, Adam Steppenwolf, has completed a few projects and is close to completing a few more.... which you can check out here... and hopefully will be screened at the Bad Luck Studios open house! More information on that and the studio at a later date....

moving slowly forward-ish....
we were not enslaved by a tyranical hive-mind AI and forced to work in slave labor camps....
we were not arrested and detained by Homeland Security.... at least not yet......
but things are taking awhile cause I wanna get them right the first time, so please bear with me and we'll have fun things for you soon enough....
meanwhile....my new favorite quote.....
"Do I like nerds? I am a nerd. I have shelves full of books at home about vampires and werewolves. And I always have my PSP with me. Right now I'm playing Jeanne D'Arc, which is just awesome. Also, I've got a PS3 and I'm dying for the new Final Fantasy to come out. See? I told you I was a total nerd." - Jenna Haze
...google her, i dare ya.
I will not play at tug o'war.
I'd rather play at hug o'war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.
-Shel Silverstein
